What will happen during the Intro Lesson & Evaluation?

Your student's Intro Lesson & Evaluation lasts approximately 15 minutes. During the lesson, they'll learn some foundational concepts on their instrument and participate in a fun, engaging first lesson.

Afterward, we'll spend a few minutes discussing next steps, including recommended lesson length, practice materials, homework expectations, and any questions you may have. Your student will also leave with resources they can use to continue practicing until their regular lessons begin.

Do I need any materials or books for the evaluation?

If your student has taken lessons before, please have any previous lesson books, worksheets, or practice materials available for the teacher to review.

If your student is a beginner, please download and print the appropriate materials listed above. If printing isn't possible, you can view the materials on a separate device during the lesson. If needed, the teacher can also share them on screen.

Should my student wear headphones?

Yes, if possible. Headphones greatly improve sound quality and make it easier for both the teacher and student to hear one another clearly.

Can I register during the evaluation?

Absolutely. You may register during the evaluation with the teacher, before the evaluation, or afterward using our online registration form:

What happens after the evaluation?

The final step is completing your registration if you haven't already done so.

Once registered, our scheduling team will begin matching your student with the best teacher and lesson time. Most students receive their schedule and teacher assignment within 1–3 weeks.

Simply complete a separate registration for each student, and we'll be happy to arrange lessons for everyone.

If you know ahead of time that you'd like multiple children evaluated, let us know before the appointment and we'll do our best to include siblings in the same evaluation session.
