Our director, Katrina Mendez, is a graduate of Berklee College of Music, as well as NYU, with degrees in Music. All teachers with  us are accomplished musicians  who  have a passion for teaching.  We  perform  local  and  nationwide  background  checks  on  all  teachers.

Shining Star Music Academy adopts the practice of positive encouragement.  Our friendly and patient instructors know how to engage students in a positive, fun and encouraging learning environment where they can enjoy and progress at a  pace  that  is  suited  to  them.

Our membership format allows you to get the most out of your learning experience and know exactly what to expect:

• unlimited group classes such as practice sessions and recital preparation classes

• two recitals each year

Performing in public is a wonderful way for students to build confidence, motivate them, learn time-management, and share their musical expression with others. It is also a joyful time for parents and family to get to see the improvement and creativity of the student.

We organize two yearly recitals,  as  well  as  practice  classes  to  give  our  students  many  opportunties  to  share  their  hard  work. Recitals  are  usually  the  first  two  weekends  of  January  and  May.

We choose and provide all music books and recital pieces.

We know you are busy and have a budget to worry about - so we try to make this as easy for you as possible. That way you can enjoy your family time!

Each student is unique, as are their goals. Our lessons are uniquely designed to balance both students’ interests and fundamentals. Our goal is to motivate our students to love music and express themselves, as well as to teach technique and how to practice effectively.

We teach piano lessons, guitar lessons, drum lessons, violin lessons, voice lessons and more in the Gainesville, FL and Jacksonville, FL areas. We teach online if you live outside our driving areas.
