Shining Star Music Academy has been providing high-quality online music lessons for over a decade, helping students of all ages learn, grow, and thrive from the comfort of home! Our experienced teachers build meaningful, long-term relationships with students while delivering engaging, personalized instruction.

Our online students enjoy the same enriching opportunities as our in-home students In addition to their weekly live, one-on-one lessons, they have access to our engaging online group classes covering topics like music theory, sight reading, composition, music production, and more! They can also participate in our fun online recitals, giving them the chance to build confidence, celebrate their progress, and share their music with family and friends from anywhere!

Regular lessons are CRUCIAL to student progress and enjoyment, and because online lessons are so convenient for families, they provide a great return on the lesson investment.  Students are in a safe space and learn better than if they were in a studio.

We have many local students who take online lessons, some because they are outside of our teacher driving area. If you are able to drive into Gainesville for our community events and many performance opportunities throughout the year, you can join us!

What you

need for

online lessons

- A device: (smart phone/tablet/computer)

- A free Zoom/Google Meet account or access to FaceTime.

- A stable internet connection.

- Headphones or ear-buds.

- A device stand or way to prop up the device.

- An email address to receive homework emails.

What type of view does the camera need?

piano

The teacher will need a view of the keyboard and the student's hands, as if they were sitting right beside them.

GUITAR

The teacher will need to be able to see both hands of the student. Most of the guitar will need be seen.

Voice

The teacher will need to be able to see the student when sitting and standing.

If you're using A laptop

There a many way to set up a laptop for lessons.

One of our favorites is a telescopic stand with a flat top. You can raise and lower to whatever height you need in just a few seconds! We like THIS ONE!

If you use A phone or tablet

While many objects are handy as propping up a phone or tablet, a telescopic stand is one of the easiest options! You can quickly adjust the height and angle of the camera to get the perfect shot! We like THIS ONE!
